Ras Kutani has just nine spacious bandas along with four Upepo suites and a family unit. The standard rooms are bamboo and thatch Polynesian style bungalows, verandas and views out over the sea, gardens or freshwater lagoon. Higher up into the hills, the 4 Upepo suites overlook the forest and out to the sea, each with massive beds and private plunge pools, where monkeys are your only neighbours.
Guest areas are a soaring thatched structure affording superb views of the beach, lagoon and the ocean. Savour freshly prepared ‘Fruits of the Indian Ocean’ and succulent Pan-African cuisine.
The beach at Ras Kutani stretches out to open water and is not affected by the shallow reef tides of other areas. With the added benefit of weak currents, our beach makes for great swimming at all times. The water temperatures are pleasant at all times of the year.
The marine equipment including kayaks, masks, snorkels, fins and boogie boards are complimentary and subject to availability. Please bear in mind that our sea is open water and therefore not protected by a reef and snorkelling conditions need to be assessed on a daily basis.
The forest walk is self-guided, with guests picking up a map and list of trees from the reception.
You do have the possibility of using the internet. Costs: US$ 5 for 15 minutes.
The Tides Beach Lodge is located on the spectacular Swahili coastline, an African oasis combining the experience of the bush & rustic luxury.
